About the book

At seventy-five, widower John Perry leaves Earth to enlist in the Colonial Defense Forces, trading his familiar life for the possibility of a fresh start among the stars. Humanity is fighting alien civilizations for scarce habitable worlds, and its military recruits older people for their experience.
